Job Purpose

The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for two suitably qualified and competent individuals to render technical services and support in engineering research, design, manufacturing, operations and maintenance under supervision. These positions are based in Elsenburg and Vredendal.








Minimum Requirements

3-year National Diploma in Civil Engineering or relevant qualification; Registration with ECSA as a Candidate Engineering Technician (Civil) is compulsory upon appointment; A valid driving licence.

Key Performance Areas

Water and irrigation engineering; Render technical services under supervision; Assist engineers, technologists and associates in field, workshop and technical office activities; Perform administrative and related functions; Compile and submit reports as required; Research and development; Keep up with new technologies and procedures.


Competencies

Knowledge of the following: Water and irrigation engineering; Project Management; Technical design and analysis knowledge; Application of computer-aided engineering applications; Legal compliance; Written and verbal communication skills; Proven computer literacy; Research and development skills.


Remuneration

R 268 713 per annum (OSD as prescribed)


Note on remuneration:

Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.


MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
