The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for a qualified Candidate Engineer (OSD) to perform all aspects of engineering activities that result in progress in technology and engineering applications under supervision as prescribed by ECSA at the level of candidate towards registration as an engineer. These contracts positions are based in Elsenburg, Stellenbosch.
Engineering Degree (B Eng/BSC (Eng)) in Civil Engineering or relevant qualification; Registration with ECSA as a Candidate Engineer is compulsory upon appointment; A valid code B driving licence.
Key Performance Areas
Water and irrigation engineering; Design new systems to solve practical engineering problems (challenges) and improve efficiency and enhance safety; Planning, designing, operating and maintenance of engineering projects; Office administration; Prepare inputs for the facilitation of resource utilisation; Research and development; Keep up with new technologies.
Working knowledge of the following: Water and irrigation engineering; Project management; Engineering design and analysis knowledge; Research and development; Computer-aided engineering applications; Legal compliance; Technical report writing; Networking skills; Decision making skills; Planning and organising skills; Ability to work under pressure; Willing to travel; Written and verbal communication skills.
All-inclusive salary package of R 618 732 per annum (OSD as prescribed)
Note on remuneration:
Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.
MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
