Sappi Southern Africa Stanger Mill Assistant Copeland x 2 ( P16 ) Sappi Stanger Mill requires an Assistant Copeland to load Soda Ash Trucks, ensuring maximum production on a continuous basis and in compliance with safety standards. This role reports into the: Production Foreman Pulp The main responsibilities of this job are: Assists in stacking charcoal, filling charcoal into charcoal bin and feeding charcoal into reactor when required Removal and bagging of soda ash spillages Monitor soda ash rejects screen - remove and bag lumps Assists reactor operator to unblock/rod reactor discharge Assists during reactor/evaporator shuts/breakdowns - removal and cleaning of scrubber saddles and surge sprays, cleaning of reactor internals, freeboard sprays and ductings, Load Soda Ash Trucks and ensure Soda Ash truck is correctly loaded and the weight of the truck is within the limit and is recorded properly in the book Operate Soda Ash offloading conveyor and chutes, preventing spillages of Soda Ash Operate Fork lifts to remove Soda Ash bags once filled and stack them neatly Adheres to safety regulations and the use of safety equipment as supplied for the tasks mentioned above Helps where ever required when requested by the Production Foreman eg. during shuts, blockages in the process Carries out any other duties/tasks as requested by supervision Adhere to environmental policy and procedures including Reduces waste and prevents spills Meets environmental targets that apply to his sphere of influence Complies with hazardous chemical handling procedure and environmental legal requirements SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT & QUALITY (SHEQ) Understand & comply with all SHEQ requirements of the job. Carries out BBS Observations Identify and take corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazards Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times The ideal candidate should have: Matric, N1 / NCV L2 Pulp & Paper preferred Minimum 12 months experience working experience in a manufacturing environment Previous experience as a Process Trainee within a pulp and paper environment preferred Closing Date: 3rd April 2020
