Rise Club Facilitator (x10) – Ekurhuleni East
Fixed Term Contract – To end August 2027 | Reporting to the Project Supervisor
Job purpose
A Rise Club Facilitator supports the club’s activities and helps young people thrive. This includes building relationships, running programmes, and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment. Facilitators must be reliable, proactive, and comfortable working with youth in community or school settings.
Key responsibilities
Programme planning & delivery
Design and run activities, workshops, and programmes for club members.
Provide mentorship and guidance to help youth grow and meet challenges.
Facilitate sessions that promote health, social skills, and resource access.
Create an inclusive space where all young people feel safe and respected.
Maintain confidential club records and prepare required reports.
Advocacy and referrals
Link members to services like mental health support and bursary opportunities.
Keep accurate records of referrals and follow-ups.
Collaborate with professionals (teachers, social workers, etc.) to support youth.
Club supervision and training
Recruit and manage club participants.
Assist with training, activity prep, materials, and event setup.
Facilitate workshops in schools and community settings.
Address bullying or discrimination and maintain a respectful environment.
Spend time with young people, provide support, and be a positive role model.
Communication
Engage with youth and staff, offer feedback, and resolve issues as they arise.
Safeguarding
Partner with schools, police, and community groups to ensure club safety.
Report any safeguarding concerns to the appropriate person.
Other related duties
Help recruit parents, boys, and club members for watch parties and other activities.
Qualifications and experience
Post-matric qualification (diploma or equivalent).
Skills & qualities
Communication & interpersonal skills: Able to connect with diverse youth.
Enthusiasm & commitment: Passion for working with young people.
Empathy & sensitivity: Responsive to youth needs and concerns.
Reliability & patience: Dependable and calm under pressure.
Teamwork: Collaborative and supportive of colleagues.
