POSITION: RESEARCH ASSISTANTS

REF: EL/RA-01/2025

STIPEND: R19 000 PER MONTH (24 MONTHS ONLY)

CENTRE: DURBAN, MKRI OFFICE

CLOSING DATE: 16 July 2025

NO. OF POSTS: 10(Ten)

REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate must be in possession of a doctoral qualification (NQF Level 10) in any of the following fields; Economics, Maritime, Development Studies, Public Policy, ICT or any related field. Must have a valid driver’s license. The ability to use IHS Markit Regional Explorer (Economics), Nvivo, and SPSS will be an added advantage.


ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and collaborative research.

• Proven experience working with quantitative and/or qualitative data.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with research and data analysis software.

• Dynamic and highly committed to working in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow set deadlines.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct economic research.

• Support development of research proposals, literature reviews, and research outputs.

• Assist the institute with door-to-door data collection process in line with applicable procedures.

• Maintaining data quality standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings.

• Contribute to publications.
