Position: Radiation Protection Learnership (NQF Level 4)

Salary: Learnership Stipend

Period: 12 months


The Necsa Learning Academy (NLA) is offering a learnership programme in Radiation Protection (RP). The programme will run for a period of 12 months.

The learnership programme will be on Radiation Protection (NQF Level 4). There will be both theoretical and practical training. Learners will be awarded the opportunity to work in the Necsa Group facilities to receive the necessary on-job exposure to equip them for employment.


NB: This opportunity is for individuals who have not participated in a previous learnership and or internship. Preference will be given to black females and Gauteng Province residents. No accommodation will be provided.


Requirements:

Applicants with Grade 12 Mathematics, Physical Science and age between 18 -35 years should apply. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for aptitude tests as part of the selection process.


After completing this course successfully learners should be able to:

1. Communicate about the hazards of radiation and contamination in the workplace and basic radiation protection;

2. Communicate about workplace radiation and contamination monitoring;

3. Select radiation and contamination monitoring equipment that suits the

• type,

• purpose, and

• location of specific measurements;

4. Monitor radiation and contamination according to specified requirements;

5. Stick to radiation protection measures specified in given procedures;

6. Manage your own relations in the workplace for optimal productivity.


In order to master these practical skills, you need to master some background theory about aspects like

• Basic radiation protection;

• How radiation and contamination monitoring equipment function;

• What factors can influence the usefulness of measurements;

• What some of the specified requirements for radiological surveillance are; etc.
