Introduction
The Social Work Intern position supports the NACOSA’s Global Fund Debriefing and Psycho-Social Support programme within the Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) programme and seeks to advise the scaling of the approach to the Sex Work (SW) and Community Resources and Systems (CRS) programmes. The position will be reporting to the AGYW Programme Specialist.

Specification
The key performance areas of the role are:
•Research
o Conduct a qualitative research study on the Debriefing and Psycho-Social Support programme- research proposal conceptualization, data collection, data analysis & report writing, supported and supervised by the programme specialist
o Presentation of research findings in relevant platforms
o Assist with desktop reviews during programme conceptualisations
•Support to the Global Fund Debriefing and Psycho-Social Support programme
o Assist the AGYW programme Specialist in the implementation and review of Debriefing and Psycho-Social Support within AGYW and the implementation support across the other Global Fund Programme.
o Communication with Service Providers such as follow up on queries and arrangements
o Assisting with minute-taking for programme meetings
o Assist the programme administrator with arrangements for events, meetings and trainings
•Review and record the Case Management implementation model within the AGYW programme
o Liaise with the relevant Specialist
o Review and provide support on the implementation of the case management model
o assist in the drafting of the case management model for the AGYW programme
•Reporting
o Provide input on monthly and quarterly internal and external reports
o Monthly report on the work done
o Activity reporting on workshops and/ trainings conducted by the programme specialist
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for a newly qualified Social Work Intern with an interest in community development, public health, women’s health and programme design and administration.
•Bachelor of Social Work and current registration with SACSSP
•1-2 years, practicum experience in a fast-paced NGO
•No formal work experience is required
•Research and Report writing skills
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in one or more South African languages besides English a distinct advantage.
•Knowledge or interest in the HIV/AIDS and TB field and the South African National Strategic Plan on HIV, STI & TB is advantageous
•Understanding of mental health and psychosocial support
•South African national.
•Valid driver’s license.
•Competent in MS Office Suite & familiarity with virtual meeting tools
•Willingness to travel within South Africa
