UJ Arts & Culture Announces CATHSSETA Internships for 2025-2026
The University of Johannesburg’s Arts & Culture is calling for applications for internships funded by Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA). At UJ Arts & Culture, we pride ourselves on providing opportunities for youth to expand their skill sets in arts and culture-related industries.A range of internships is available at various departments within the University of Johannesburg.

Copywriting (4)
Multimedia (10)
Hospitality (1)
Performing Arts Administration (2)
Internships will commence in December 2025 and run for a period of 12 months. Recent graduates with relevant qualifications are eligible to apply. Applications will close on 26 August 2025 at midday (12:00), and no late applications will be accepted. Applicants will be paid a monthly stipend of R5000.00 (subject to statutory deductions).
Internships Details:
Copywriting Internship
The intern will receive mentorship on writing copy for social media campaigns, adverts, media statements, and magazine and online articles. The internship aims to develop computer literacy, writing skills, creative thinking, innovation, planning, and organising skills, as well as good work ethics.
Minimum requirements: Postgraduate degree or above, relevant qualification in journalism or copywriting from a public university.
Multimedia Internship
The intern will receive mentorship on animating content and images for social media advertising and archiving, as well as recording interviews, editing, and compiling show reels for advertisements. The internship aims to develop computer literacy, editing and filmmaking skills, animated content, creative thinking, innovation, planning and organising skills, and good work ethics.
Minimum requirements: Postgraduate degree or above, relevant qualification in multimedia from a public university.
Administration Internship
The intern will be mentored in administrative functions and systems related to the internal programme and project planning and implementation. The internship aims to develop administrative skills, specifically computer literacy, planning and coordination skills, communication skills, creative thinking, innovation, and good work ethics.
Minimum requirements include a postgraduate degree or higher and a relevant qualification in performing arts from a public university.
Hospitality internship
The intern will be mentored in Front-of-House (FOH) duties, including work in venues, bars, and coffee shops. The internship aims to develop event planning and coordination, computer literacy, communication, creative thinking, innovation, and good work ethics. Hospitality interns will manage emails, respond to enquiries, and provide stakeholders with relevant information. They will work collaboratively with various departments, including marketing, operations, and guest services, participating in team meetings and providing input for continuous improvement. The internship offers valuable experience in team collaboration and contributes to the organisation’s success.
Minimum requirements include a postgraduate degree or higher and a relevant qualification in hospitality management from a public university.
