Job Description
RCL FOODS is seeking Interns for the Laboratory department on a fixed-term contract.
As an Intern, your responsibilities will include: Performing test methods, quality control of consumables, maintaining reference materials, verifying equipment, monitoring the environment, managing the sample register, implementing corrective actions, keeping equipment records and preparing reagents.
Minimum Requirements
• 3rd Year in-service training students studying towards a National Diploma in Food Tech, Bio Tech or similar
• Must be able to work under pressure
• Speak, Read and Write English
• Good Communication Skills
• Problem Solving Skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic computer skills
Duties & Responsibilities
• Analyse incoming raw materials
• Analyse intermediate products
• Analyse final and shelf-life products according to product's test checklist
• Record results on the database
• Communicate results to the relevant HOD or department
• Follow up on product placed on hold
• Perform internal calibrations as per the schedule
• Collect samples for analysis as required
• Report any issues to Laboratory Management
• Verification of product identification provided by the factory
• Working in a manner to ensure the safety of co-workers and yourself
• All equipment should be handled as per procedures
• Assist with sample preparation for external testing
• Ensure sufficient retention of samples are collected for storage for all products as stipulated
• Assist with clearance of retention rooms as per schedule
• Perform analysis accurately according to testing methods as provided
• Identification of departures from the management system or from the procedures for performing tests
• Initiation of actions to prevent or minimize such departures
• Ensure that logbooks, projects and any info required by universities are provided in timorously to management
• Communicate the progress of your studies and projects to Lab management
