A housekeeper is a professional responsible for maintaining cleanliness, order, and overall tidiness in various environments, such as the kitchen and cafe. Their primary goal is to ensure the spaces are pleasant, functional, and welcoming for occupants and visitors alike. The role of a housekeeper extends beyond mere cleaning; it encompasses organizing, maintaining supplies, and sometimes even providing light maintenance services.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualifications

• Certificate in Hospitality will be advantageous

Work Experience

• +- 2 years working in the hospitality environment

• Working experience in private healthcare or retail will be advantageous

Knowledge

• Customer Service Orientated

• Undertaking a range of daily cleaning activities including sweeping, washing dishes, wiping down tables, vacuuming and mopping

• Inspecting customers tables and communal areas to ensure they are tidy and well maintained, including disposing of waste

• Performing regular inventory checks and replacing consumables when required

• Protecting and maintaining cleaning equipment and reporting any damage to the manager

• Ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained

• Responding efficiently to urgent requests such as spillages, so that safety is restored in a timely manner.
