Graduate programme to study in the US for BA/ BTech degree holders by Hubert H Humphrey

Applications for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Programme for the 2024-2025 academic year are now open.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Programme is a non-degree graduate level study opportunity for mid-level professionals. The Fellowship provides professional and leadership development in the United States for accomplished mid-level professional from designated countries. During their stay at an American host university, Humphrey Fellows are invited to take graduate courses relevant to their professional interests.

Participants will spend a considerable portion of their time engaged in professional development activities including consultations and affiliations with U.S. faculty and experts, field trips, workshops, research projects, and the development of practical useful strategies that could be applied in the Fellows’ home countries.

Degree level

Non-degree programme.


Who can apply?

  • Have a four-year undergraduate degree (4-year BA, B Tech or BA + Honours);

  • A minimum of five years full-time, professional experience prior to August 2024;

  • Demonstrate leadership qualities;

  • A record of public service in the community;

  • University lecturers (qualifying candidates need to demonstrate management or policy responsibilities and experience).


The following individuals are not eligible for the HHH Fellowship:

  • Individuals who have attended graduate school in the United States for one academic year or more during the seven years prior to August 2024;

  • Individuals who have had more than six months of U.S. in-country experience of any kind during the five years prior to August 2024;

  • Alumni who have participated in a State Department exchange programme within the last three years;

  • Individuals with dual U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status.

What the scholarship offers

  • Tuition fees;

  • Pre-academic English language training, if required;

  • A living allowance, including settling in allowance upon arrival in the U.S.;

  • Health benefits (accident and sickness coverage);

  • A book allowance and one-time computer subsidy;

  • Air travel (international travel to and from the U.S. for the programme and domestic travel to required programme events);

  • Professional Development allowance for professional activities, such as field trips, professional visits and conferences.
