Main Purpose:
The Transformational Gift Fundraiser will be expected to secure donor/sponsorship support for the University of the Witwatersrand from the highest-income-level individual, family trusts and foundations, local and global philanthropic trusts and foundations, and corporate sponsor and donor prospects, with a focus on the university’s strategic fundraising campaign priorities.
The Transformational Gift Fundraiser will have the responsibility to identify, cultivate, engage with, solicit from and steward prospective “palladium” donors and sponsors with the capacity to make transformational gifts of R100m and above from individuals, trusts, foundations and corporations.
Brief Description
Key Responsibilities:
• Identifying transformational giving trends and innovations that yield secure investments/donations to the University.
• Identifying and securing new transformational gifts for the University’s priority projects.
• Co-ordinating institutional strategies that will be appealing to current and new transformational gift investors.
• Ensure high-level stewardship of existing transformational gift investors and actively re-engaging past transformational gift investors.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant qualifications, in fields such as philanthropy, corporate social investment, marketing, corporate communications and/or business development.
• 3 – 5 Years working experience.
• Proven success and substantial experience in transformational gift fundraising (R100m and above), from solicitation to closure, preferably in a higher education donor environment from individuals, trusts, foundations and corporations.
• Proven success in supporting and managing donor cultivation and stewardship, preferably in a higher education donor environment.
Preferences:
• Work experience in a Higher Education Environment.
