The municipality seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons to the following positions within the ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Post: Environmental Health Practitioner(x2)
Salary: R595 351.66 pa
Location: Umzumbe
Closing date: 13 June 2025 @16h00
Reporting to the manager: Environmental Health Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following inter-alia:
Conducting inspections & investigations pertaining to municipal health functions as listed in the scope of practice for Environmental Health, with a view of determining compliance to by-laws and statutory legislation.
Enforcing specific procedures and measures on residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial businesses, pertaining to Environmental Health risks.
Participating in the delivery of awareness and educational programmes on environmental health approaches, with the view ensuring safe and healthy living to the community.
Co-ordinating specific administrative tasks/activities associated with the updating and maintaining records/information related to the functions in the Section.
Disseminating information on Health Environmental strategies and providing reports detailing interventions and outcomes.
Scrutiny of building plans.
Investing communicable disease outbreaks, and disease surveillance, including the preparations of reports on findings .
Monitoring levels of Environmental pollution, including sampling of water from various sources.
Reporting directly to the Environmental Health Officer, in the respective areas.
Requirements:
A valid Grade 12 certificate.
National Diploma in Environmental Health/BTech degree in Environmental Health or Bachelor of Science: Environmental Health
Registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Independent Environmental Health Practitioner.
3-5 years experience as an Environmental Health Practitioner.
A valid code, EB drivers licence.
Ability to communicate in English and isiZulu.
