STADIO School of Education has a position available for an Academic Department Administrator (Montana Campus)

Job requirements and description

The academic department administrator will take responsibility for aspects of administrative support for the department as specified by the Head of Department. This requires the ability to deal with a variety of tasks, including staff and student queries, management of departmental communication and playing a support role in meetings, document management/ record keeping, contract staff appointments and claims management, and support for academic and assessment procedures.


Main duties:


Perform academic departmental administrative duties

Assist with manual and electronic filing activities as part of the academic calendar cycle

Oversee and co-ordinate the application, tracking and reporting on contract appointments and claims for contract staff

Provide logistical and administrative support for academic systems and procedures

Provide logistical and administrative support for assessment processes for mark administration and internal and external moderation

Assist with preparation for promotional events (e.g. Open Days)

Assist STADIO School of Education Secretariat in organisation of staff travel, meetings and events

In period of low demand, to assist Student Support Services with activities such as registration (typically Dec/Jan/Feb and Jun/Jul/Aug)

Participate in department training and development activities


Minimum requirements:


Matric

Related experience

IT skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Excellent organizational skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to communicate with both staff and students and to be discreet

Ability to work under pressure, and to meet deadlines and handle heavy workloads

The following would be an advantage:


Knowledge of the higher education sector

Undergraduate teaching qualification or another degree

IT qualifications (e.g. Microsoft Expert. ECDL etc)

Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (e.g. Moodle) and Student Information Management Systems (e.g. myEmbury)
