Job Description
Purpose of the job
• Carry out maintenance of electrical equipment.
• Attend to day-to-day breakdowns as per job cards.
• Ensure that electrical installations are compliant and up to standard.
Required outputs: Functional:
• To complete apprenticeship program theoretical and practical experience.
• To be involved in the servicing, repair and installation of various electrical equipment.
• Complete maintenance work on electrical equipment including testing malfunctioning equipment, identifying defects, trouble shooting, repairing equipment, and replacing defective parts.
• Assist with new and upgrade installations of building electrical wiring and AC 3-phase motors.
• On occasion required to carry out miscellaneous legal ad hoc tasks for which the incumbent is competent as instructed by the Electrician or Maintenance Team Leader.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, rules, and regulations.
• Assist with breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment.
• Assist with testing and commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Make use of electrical testing equipment of power and handouts.
• Ensure accurate and honest reporting of incidents, near misses and safety hazards
Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum education Grade 12 with a post matric qualification (N3 Electrical)
• Basic awareness of SANS 10142 wiring code
• Awareness of Merseta apprenticeship requirements.
• Must be computer literate.
• Basic awareness of OHSAct.
• Must possess good report writing skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team and be deadline driven.
