Key Purpose of the role •To be exposed to the technical deliverables in a short term insurance underwriting environment, ensuring the intern acquires an understanding of both the techinical and operational functions and what role a technical team plays in the greater scheme of things Areas of learning may include but not limited to •Reviewing adherence to role Mandates and compliance requirements. •Reviewing anniversary-, servicing- and new business referrals processes •Develop an understanding for Risk Management (underwriting) rules, rating, and insurance laws and regulations. •Understand decisions regarding the acceptance, price and policy terms and condition that are consistent with business. •Understand the decision making process around the communication of, tracking and policy updates relating to but not limited to Risk Reduction Requirements, Multi-Claimants and Going off Risk cases, contributing to ensuring a profitable loss ratio. •Identify underwriting concerns and suggest possible solutions. •Manage and resolve queries received from various stakeholders including doing the necessary follow up work. •Acquire an acceptable level of understanding of the DBI entire value chain. •Conduct audits on specific policies, based on criteria as defined by Business and Technical Underwriting i.e. vehicle only risk and adherence to VDB requirements, high vehicle value policies & adherence to tracking device requirements etc. Personal Attributes and Skills •Strong customer service focused. •Excellent relationship building skills. •Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to influence, convince and negotiate effectively. •Conflict handling skills. •Analytical and attentive to details. •Resourceful problem solver. •Systematic and organised with an ability to plan and prioritise effectively. •Resilient, with an ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.





Qualification Requirement •Matric / Grade 12 is essential. •BCOMM in Insurance and Risk Management •BSC (Advantageous) Specific Requirements: •No previous internship and or graduate programme in any industry or government institution •No work experience (Essential) •Between the ages of 22 – 26 (Essential) •You must be a South African Citizen by Birth
