Internship Opportunity: Business Analytics
Duration: Two Year Programme
Monthly Stipend: R9,306.18
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) operating under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). It is mandated by the Skills Development Act (SDA) 97 of 1998 to drive skills development within the mining and minerals sector (MMS). Its scope covers a diverse range of sub-sectors, including Coal Mining, Gold Mining, Platinum Group Metals (PGM) Mining, Diamond Mining, Other Mining, Cement, Lime, Aggregates, and Sand (CLAS), as well as Services Incidental Mining (SITM), Diamond Processing, and Jewellery Manufacturing.
The MQA would like to invite qualifying individuals to apply for an internship opportunity within its Supply Chain Unit. Unemployed individuals who have never participated in an internship programme are invited to apply. This opportunity is only available for South African Citizens. The successful intern will be appointed for a period of twenty-four (24) months.
Reporting to the Specialist: Business Analytics; the successful candidate will be exposed to the following:
Knowledge Hub Support
Assist in the organisation and publishing of institutional documents, reports, and multimedia content on the Knowledge Hub.
Support user engagement and interface improvement initiatives.
Help maintain version control, tagging, and metadata standards for uploaded knowledge assets.
Infographics and Visual Knowledge Tools
Assist in the development of infographics, visual summaries, and dashboards that communicate complex data in user-friendly formats.
Collaborate with content owners to design visuals that support awareness campaigns, training, and strategic reports.
Business Intelligence and Research Support
Contribute to collecting and organising data for internal insights (e.g., trends from monitoring reports, project performance).
Assist with the development of basic dashboards, data cleaning, and information summaries for use in strategic decision-making.
Conduct desktop research and help synthesise content for internal reports and strategic knowledge products.
Records and Digital Information Management
Assist with the classification, digital filing, and retrieval of documents within the EDRMS or related systems.
Support efforts to align with NARSSA and SANS ISO 16175-2 standards.
General Administrative and Team Support
Take part in team planning sessions, knowledge-sharing meetings, and documentation exercises.
Provide general administrative support to the Knowledge Management Unit.
Required Qualifications:
A grade 12 or Matric certificate
Minimum: Honours or Master’s Degree in one of the following:
Knowledge Management
Information Systems / Informatics
Records or Library and Information Science
Digital Media or Communication
Data Analytics / Business Intelligence
or related disciplines
Skills and Competencies:
Good interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office Packages
A proactive attitude
Ability to work under pressure
