Company Profile National Brands Limited has an opportunity available for a Cost Accountant based at the Entyce Durban factory. The suitable incumbent will support the Site Finance Manager with all aspects of cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities Cost Management Factory cost analyses Calculate and analyse Standard Cost Estimates for products during Budget and Forecast periods Maintain quarterly, actual and the 12-month rolling forecast cost sets on SAP Analyse Labour & Overheads costs (Incl. analysis of manning levels, manpower and throughputs on the lines) and explain variances Analyse Fixed Costs (e,g. Support Services costs) and variances associated with Fixed costs Maintain BOM accuracy & flexibility and analyse the costing of BOMs Weekly and monthly analyses of process orders and closing of process orders Analysis and reconciliation of the various variance categories with relevant corrective action Focus on reducing scrap variances through effective partnership with factory management Control Stock write-offs - Facilitate preparation and approval of documentation required prior to disposal of expired/damaged/obsolete/discontinued and scrapped materials. Provide necessary support to management to calculate the organizational performance in relation to the costs incurred and establish different methodologies to control costs Management of material master data Budget Management Preparation of Fixed Costs Budgets (Incl. depreciation) by Cost Centre and by Work Centre Inventory Management Coordinate and manage monthly, mid-year and year-end stock counts. Post daily cycle counts Analyse and explain variances on stock take prior to posting Ensure tight controls and adherence to daily cycle counts. Maintain integrity of Material Master Data and master recipe in SAP. Analyse material usage in Factory against process & cycle count variances. Analyse and report on raw and pack days’ cover. Analyse and report on energy usage. Bill Of Material (BOM) Management Maintain BOM accuracy/integrity on SAP Conduct BOM Audits and analyse it against factory yields and throughputs – ensuring that floor practice matches BOM General Management Monthly explanation of movement in fixed expenses vs. budget and latest estimates Stock reporting, monthly reconciliation and explanation of movements Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual factory commentary(management reports) Submit manufacturing statistics Management of month end close and preparation of applicable journals Perform various ad-hoc tasks
