This exciting opportunity, based at our Support Centre in Kuils River, has become available within our Product Technology Team.

Our ideal candidate will be a resilient, efficient and self-motivated individual who will provide technical support by researching, sourcing and developing consistent quality of products and maintaining and enhancing business processes, in support of the Company’s product strategy.

The candidate must be able to work as part of a team as well as independent with ability to create structure in the area they are responsible for.

This position reports to the Product Technology Team Leader (Development).



• A Grade 12 Certificate/Matric


• Diploma or Certificate in Pattern Making OR

• Bachelor’s Degree with specialization in clothing OR

• Relevant qualification in clothing management or fashion design, preferably with the following subjects:

o Pattern Making & Garment Construction

o Fabric construction, characteristics of fabrics and performance and Dyeing & Finishing processes

• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Knowledge required:


• Relevant legislation (e.g. Country of Origin Labelling Act, Including Health & Safety requirements)

• Knowledge of SABS standards (area specific)

• Supplier base knowledge (capabilities and areas of specialization)

• Related services – Distribution Centers, Customer Care, Marketing, Stores, Information Technology, Shipping, and Packaging


• Clothing & fabric production processes

• Business critical path – buying cycle

• Business processes (S.O.P.’s)

• Departmental (Product technology) processes and standards

• Product Technology objectives and strategies

• Previous experience in supervising and/ or managing direct reports

Skills required:

• Excellent command of the English language

• The ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, business expectations to suppliers; technical information to non-technical audiences and effectively represent the company to external customers, suppliers and stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

1. To research, source and develop new and existing product in accordance with Company strategy

2. To compile and issue product standards and specifications

3. To implement standards and specifications in accordance with the critical path to ensure consistent compliance across all departments and suppliers

4. To source develop existing product suppliers locally and abroad in accordance with Company strategy

5. To perform Scanning, Digitizing, 2D patternmaking and 3D rendering activities as part of the product development process
