7x Amplifiers post for youth with education or community development coordination at Nalibali

Provincial Programme Amplifiers (WC, KZN, EC, Limpopo, NW, Mpumalanga and GP)

Fixed term contract: 1 year

We are looking for 7 motivated individuals with community development, literacy and stakeholder engagement experience!!


The Provincial Programme Amplifier will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of Nal’ibali’s Reading Club programme and providing training, support and mentoring to Reading Club leaders within the province. Engage with key stakeholders, including educators, community leaders, and parents, to promote the importance of reading and literacy in child development.


Key responsibilities include:

Programme management and coordination - 25%

  • Oversee the implementation of Nal'ibali Reading Clubs across the province, ensuring adherence to programme guidelines and quality standards.

  • Recruit, train, and support a team of Reading Club leaders, providing ongoing guidance and professional development opportunities.

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, such as schools, libraries, community organizations, and government departments, to establish and strengthen partnerships in support of the reading club programme.

  • Develop and maintain a network of volunteers and community ambassadors to enhance programme reach and impact.


Training and Capacity Building of Reading Club leaders - 25%

  • Conduct training sessions for Reading Club leaders, equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to facilitate effective reading club sessions.

  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to Reading Club leaders, addressing challenges, sharing best practices, and promoting continuous improvement.

  • Develop and deliver capacity-building workshops and refresher training sessions for volunteers and other programme stakeholders.

  • Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in literacy development and incorporate them into programme implementation.


Monitoring and Evaluation - 20%

  • Manage the Reading Club leaders training calendar informed by all training activities planned for designated province.

  • Track training progress and provide monthly reports for learning purposes.

  • Lead and coordinate pre-training/post training mentorship sessions.

  • Track progress of the reading club programme.

  • Conduct regular site visits to reading clubs to observe sessions, provide feedback, and ensure programme quality and fidelity.

  • Collect data on programme activities, participant engagement to inform programme improvements and decision-making.

  • Prepare regular reports on programme achievements, challenges, and recommendations for Reading Club leader.


Advocacy and Community Engagement - 20%

  • Advocate for the establishment of Nal'ibali's work including reading club model at provincial, district and community levels, capitalising awareness in events, conferences, and meetings.

  • Engage with key stakeholders, including educators, community leaders, and parents, to promote the importance of reading and literacy in child development.

  • Collaborate with local media outlets to raise awareness about Nal'ibali's programme offerings and reading clubs.

  • Support community mobilization efforts to promote reading culture, organizing events, and campaigns that encourage reading and storytelling...


Refresher Training and Support Needs of Funda Leader Community - 10%

  • Develop and update database of all trained Reading club leaders.

  • Keep Reading Club leaders informed of new training opportunities, modules and further external training opportunities.

  • Develop an alumni online platform (managed by Digital Specialist) to share Nalibali developments and new materials.



Requirements:

  • Matric and or post-schooling certificate or diploma particularly ideally in the fields of education, project coordination, community development and/or social development.

  • Experience in programme coordination preferably in the field of literacy, education, or community development.

  • Experience in community development, stakeholder engagement and awareness raising

  • Strong experience in data collection and report-writing skills

  • Track record in coordinating diverse teams.

  • Demonstrated experience in training and capacity building, including designing and delivering workshops or training sessions.

  • Knowledge of the South African education system and familiarity with literacy initiatives and organizations in the country is advantageous.

  • Strong understanding of children’s literacy development and how adults can support this.

  • Familiarity with Nal’ibali’s approach to children’s literacy development, and skilled at translating this for various audiences.

  • Strong communicator, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A strategic and analytical thinker, with a resourceful, solutions-driven approach to problem solving.

  • Strong coordination, facilitation, presentation, coaching and mentorship skills.

  • Multi-tasking, strong organisational, project management and time-management skills.

  • English and at least one other official South African language MS Excel (Advanced), MS Word (Advanced), PowerPoint (Advanced)

  • Basic knowledge of administration software

  • Knowledge of social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

  • Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products

  • Have valid driver’s license.

  • Willingness to travel.
