14x Internship Programme to be held at Botswana and Lusaka by Southern African Development Community

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

BACKGROUND

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is a regional economic community founded and maintained by countries in Southern Africa. It aims to further the socio-economic, political and security cooperation among its Member States and foster regional integration in order to achieve peace, stability, and wealth. SADC currently has sixteen (16) Member States with a population of approximately 340 million and a combined GDP of US$720 billion.


SADC Secretariat is currently recruiting interns in different Directorates/Units. The programme is for a duration of six (6) months and offers students and employees of Member States an opportunity to learn and gain practical work experience in their chosen field of study and work. The Secretariat is therefore, inviting qualified citizens of the SADC Member States to apply for the following internship opportunities tenable at its Headquarters in Gaborone, Botswana and at SPGRC in Lusaka, Zambia.


Internship Opportunities:


1. Asset Management Intern x1

Qualifications:

Prospective candidate should be having a degree in Asset Management/ Business Administration/ Finance.


2. Communication and Public Relations Intern x1

Qualifications:

Prospective candidate should have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or Digital Media.


3. Education and Skills Development Intern x1

Qualifications:

Degree in education, economics or in any other social science fields.


4. Youth Development Intern x1

Qualifications:

Prospective candidates should possess a degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.


5. HIV and AIDS Intern x1

Qualifications:

Degree in Public health, Epidemiology or in any other social science fields


6. Ex - Situ Conservation Intern x1

Qualifications:

• Degree in any Agriculture field, or Plant Genetic Resources Conservation or Seed technology


7. Administration and Finance Intern x1

Based at the SADC Plant Genetic Resources Centre in Lusaka, Zambia.

Qualifications:

• First degree in Accounting, Finance, or Administration.


8. Forestry Intern x1

Duties and Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Prospective candidate should be studying toward a Degree in Forestry/ Natural Resources Management


9. ICT Infrastructure Intern x1


10. Procurement Interns x2

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or any related field.


11. Food Security Intern x1

Education Qualifications

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture economics or related technical field from a recognized institution.


12. Human Resources Interns x2

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree or possessing a degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management, Psychology, or a

related field • Human Resources professional qualification is an added advantage.



OTHER ELIGIBLE CRITERIA

  • Be nationals of SADC Member States;

  • Be between the age of 21 and 35 years;

  • Be enrolled at a registered and accredited universities and colleges studying towards a degree programme;

  • Possess the highest standard of moral conduct and integrity; and

  • Has not been convicted of any serious criminal offence.


REMUNERATION The SADC Secretariat shall offer a monthly living allowance of US$250.00 only. The Member States shall bear the cost of relocation, insurance and other related expenses.

TENURE OF APPOINTMENT Internship shall be for a fixed period of not less than one (1) month but not more than six (6) months.
